Play it safe this winter
Cold wind, rain and snow… sometimes all we want to do in winter is wrap ourselves in our new warm clothes and snuggle up to that special someone.
However, it’s really important that if you are getting cosy with your partner that you are both ready to be in a sexual relationship and are fully prepared.
If you are ready, then make sure you understand the importance of negotiating safe sex and being in control.
Be prepared - the only way to protect yourself against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and unplanned pregnancy is to use condoms at all times.
So if you are planning on snuggling up to someone special tonight, make sure you don’t leave home without winters must have accessory – a condom!

Say NO to STIs
As mentioned the only way to protect yourself from STIs is to always practice safer sex. This includes using a barrier method such as a condom every single time you and your partner have sex and also getting regular STI check ups!
There is no need to be worried when it comes to getting an STI check up - they are quick, painless and you can be assured that whoever gives you the tests has seen it all before.
It is important to make sure your sexual health is in the clear by getting regular STI check ups as some STIs often have no symptoms at all such as Chlamydia which can lead to infertility if left untreated.
Speak to your doctor or call your nearest Marie Stopes International sexual health centre on Freecall 1800 003 707 to find out more.
